Core Compressive Strength Testing
This test is used to verify the strength of cored samples in various diameters but normally 100mm.
The test samples are first cored from the structure, then cut to the correct height and have their ends ground completely flat. They are then soaked as necessary and placed into a compression machine, where they are subjected to increasing load until failure.
The resulting maximum load will be divided by the cross-sectional area of the sample to calculate its compressive strength.
The compressive strength can then be compared to the design strength of the concrete mix. This is critical for determining if the concrete meets its intended design strength.
