Frost Heave Testing

We are now equipped to undertake frost heave testing of aggregates to BS 812 Part 124, the test standard required in the Specification for Highway Works. 

 

If subbase (Type 1 for example) or other unbound aggregate is used within 450mm of the road surface then its susceptibility to frost heave should be determined to ensure no heave will occur, destroying paved surfaces in those cold winter nights! Frost heave testing now complements our full Type 1 subbase testing and classification service and is essential for ensuring subbase complies with a variety of important properties, not just its particle size grading!
