Concrete core being extracted to investigate the subbase beneath a warehouse floor

From the Hixtra archive · 12th June 2024

We recently completed an investigation into a concrete floor and the sub-base underneath in a large warehouse which was being repurposed for a far heavier floor loading. This investigation involved cutting cores through the concrete floor which were then tested for compressive strength while the subbase was assessed for strength by Dynamic Cone Penetrometer. Depth measurements of all the layers making up the floor were also examined though the core holes.
