Ground Strength Testing for Scaffolding: No more tight access issues
Posted on 11th October 2024
Increasingly, consultants and contractors need to know how well the ground surface below scaffolding supports is going to perform under load. This is to help ensure that the ground is able to support the weight of the scaffold assembly without settlement or collapse. To help with this, we are often asked to perform plate bearing tests to measure ground settlement under specific loads and pressures. The problem is, for scaffolding tests, the points at where the tests are required are often in tight spaces where heavy plant (used for a reaction weight) is not able to get to. Step in Hixtra with the solution!
We have designed and built a portable system to provide the reaction load as well as the actual testing so no more tight access problems on-site for plate bearing tests. Our system can be set up in very tight and difficult to reach spaces and does not require our client to provide any kind of reaction weight.
